TheBloody323 asked if I sold my Audi, so I thought I should just post a full update on the subject.
I had two total potential buyers so far. The first guy came to look with a friend. They arrived in a later (B6) Audi S4, and an E46 BMW M3 convertible. These guys seemed to know their stuff, but were mostly unfamiliar with the older cars like mine. Anyway, the guy who was thinking of buying said it looked like it was in pretty good shape, but ultimately he decided to pass it up.
No matter, I still had another buyer, and he seemed pretty enthusiastic about buying. He just had to sell his B5 S4 first. I saw his ad and his pictures weren't great, and being an amateur photographer and motivated seller, I offered to take photos of his car for his ad. He agreed and we were supposed to meet up on Saturday. Turns out he ended up selling his car on Saturday, but then had to wait for the title. He asked if we could meet up the next day, but since that was our one year anniversary, I wisely declined and offered Tuesday as the next soonest date. He agreed.
I texted him on Tuesday around noon confirming that we were still meeting that night and checking what time he'd be free. He confirmed and said "7-ish." Later, 7 o'clock was approaching, so I went out to the car and scrubbed the windows and windshield with a cloth to remove the streaks from my previous cleaning attempts. I then checked the codes one last time, and it verified that there are currently no error codes. Still no sign of him, so I went inside to wait. 7 came and went. Then 7:10. Then 7:20. I texted, letting him know that if he needed help finding the place to just give me a call and I could help him out. No reply. 7:30 past, and then 7:40. I started to give up. At 8:20, I called him and got no answer. Gave it a rest for the night. Then I texted today, still nothing. A couple hours later, I had a friend text him for me asking about his S4 to see if he was 1. indeed ignoring me, and 2. lying about the purchase status of his own car. He replied to my friend saying that his Audi had sold but he still has it; the same thing he told me. So yeah, he was just ignoring me. I texted him one more time saying, "Last chance. If you don't reply, I'm taking the car off the market and buying parts to just fix it myself." Sure enough, the flake didn't reply. So I deleted the craigslist ad and ordered parts.
So now the plan is to just fix it and drive it instead of selling. So no worries, people, you can still know me as NinetyQ, the guy with the terrible/awesome Audi. I placed my order for control arm bushings and rear calipers today, just like I said needed done in the ad. So hopefully I get those parts soon and can have it back on the road. I also need to install the hydraulic pressure accumulator for the ABS and get an alignment.
After that's done, if it goes according to plan anyway, it's time to diagnose why I feel a hesitation in power at very low RPM and very high RPM. Thinking about getting upgrade injectors from 034 Motorsports. It's a common upgrade for these engines and really brings them to life, or so I hear from unbiased sources. I'd also like to buy equal-length headers off of a motorgeek forum member and replace the entire exhaust. Right now when the car is at a stop and the vents are on, exhaust fumes enter the cabin. While the car is moving, it's not noticeable, but as soon as it stops, better switch the vents off.
After those, there are still some minor things to troubleshoot. Install the odometer gear I purchased and/or install a new gauge cluster. See what's still wrong with the ABS and diff lock. Other minor things. I'm hoping that I can have it in pretty good shape by spring, and at least regularly-drive-able shape by winter.
Edit: The listing is still live on cars.com if you want to see more. It has less info than the craigslist ad had though. Stupid character limits.

That last guy... what a weird behaviour.

Good luck man! CL buyers suck.

Yeah, I just really don't understand. I was actually pretty depressed-feeling about it last night. Had my hopes up for a quick sale that we could both be happy about, but I guess it wasn't meant to be. Ah well, if I'm able to fix the Audi soon, at least I'll have a good winter vehicle.

Thanks! And yeah, they do. Why is that?

I have asked the same question. Perhaps it is related to inability to use punctuation?
![]() 09/18/2013 at 19:39 |

Well, there is punctuation in his ad, but it's not correctly used. http://southbend.craigslist.org/cto/4043519202…

Honestly/Selfishly this makes me happy. The only reason I wasn't beating your door down is:
1.) Getting married next April and so can't really be spending money that should be going to the wedding/honeymoon.
2.) I don't have a garage to keep it in while I work on it at the moment.
At least now the next time you decide to sell it I'll hopefully will be in a better position to grab it.
Edit: Saw the other add, good luck if you do sell it. Just wish I had funds/time right now

I'll keep that in mind! :D Granted, it'll be for a bit more if it's fully sorted by then. But I doubt I'd price it above $5k. Probably more like 4 or 4.5 realistically.

Yeah that's not too bad, is the diff lock mechanical or actuator? Could just be a bad switch on T-case

Well, YOU try trying an ad while refinishing wheels. It's hard, bro.

Destiny, that's all.

I haven't looked into it enough to know the specifics, but it's an actuator. Push-button lock on the center console. Heck, I don't even know for sure that the diff lock doesn't work, since it's somehow tied to the ABS system which is faulty right now. Hopefully the hydraulic pressure accumulator fixes that though.

I think so, make sense if they'd used hydraulic pressure to lock the the back.

Hey, so I'm thinking about selling the car again. It's a lot better off now if you're interested. Let me know!

I am, however my wallet is bulimic . It vomits it's contents every month into the wedding fund that is four months away. So I'm pretty much restricted to money for food, gas and beer. Not even alot of beer, only a little... snif*

Well that is certainly a shame. There's a good chance it won't sell though I guess, so if so, maybe you can catch it next time around, haha.

CL is full of people looking to sell as quickly as possible, or for sketchy ads and sellers/buyers.
